The Government is rushing to get interim gas market transparency rules in place due to “material risk” a giant methanol manufacturer will shut down before regulations come into force early next year.
Taranaki’s Methanex uses 40 percent of the country’s gas supply, and its fate is tied to the Māui gas field, expected to cease production by the end of the year.
