The Ministry for the Environment (MfE) has released further supporting documents related to the 2024 New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ ETS) settings decisions. The documents include:
- A report by EY assessing MfE's analysis of the NZ ETS stockpile surplus.
- Proactive release package of remaining 2024 NZ ETS settings papers. View here.
There's a new date for the expected delivery date for the Climate Change Commission’s next advice on the limits and price control settings for units in the NZ ETS (NZ ETS settings advice).
The Minister of Climate Change and the Commission have agreed the 2025 NZ ETS settings advice (covering the 2026-2030 period) will be delivered to the Minister no later than 18 April 2025.
This is later than the March 2025 delivery date previously communicated to stakeholders. This change will allow the Commission time to consider implications that the second emissions reduction plan, released by the Government last week, may have for the NZ ETS settings. More information can be found on the Commission’s website.
